Physical Therapy is a great career. If you like helping people, staying fit and being involved with athletics, a job in physical therapy (PT) would be a perfect choice for you. So many people get hurt playing sports or just in every day life and you get the opportunity to help them and get their body back to 100%
Many professional sports teams carry a physical therapist on staff to deal with the myriad of injuries that happen. The Dallas Cowboys carry many trainers and therapists to work on the players to ensure they are operating at full strength and can help the team out on game day.
To practice physical therapy you typically need to attend an additional 4 years of schooling on top of normal college. It can be quite expensive to pursue a career in PT so make sure you have enough money saved up, or access to loans so you can get through your schooling.
After you have graduated, most people look for a clinic in the area to get a job. There are some great physical therapy centers in the Dallas area that are always looking for quality therapists to help work with their clientele. Ideal candidates for PT jobs have a bachelor’s degree, some experience (even if it was just a non-paid internship), the ability to take iniative, great listening skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with sometimes difficult patients.
Physical therapy is rewarding - it’s a career that will help keep you fit and at the same time you can help other people out as they recover from their knee, hip and other joint related injuries.
